About SGA
The Association serves as the representatives of the student body, thus enabling members to act as liaisons between the student body and the administration, faculty, and staff. The Association manages its business, funds, and regulates its activities with the advice and consent of the Office of Student Involvement. The Association operates within parameters and guidelines set pursuant to the University Policies and Procedures consistent with the Mission Statement.
The purposes of the Association are to:
a. Represent the thoughts and ideas of the student body;
b. Inform students of their rights and responsibilities;
c. Promote and defend the general welfare of students;
d. Foster cooperation between the administration, faculty, students, and community;
e. Encourage commitment to the University and its Mission;
f. Promote high standards of conduct;
g. Encourage student involvement within the University and surrounding community; and
h. Serve the community as representatives of the University.
Campus Safety Walk
Every semester SGA coordinates a campus safety walk with the University Police Department, Campus Safety, Facilities, as well as members of the maintenance and grounds team to ensure a safe campus for everyone. The team walks campus in the dark to see where improvements can be made, and information on the progress of ongoing projects can be found here.
Executive Branch
Student Government Association is proud to have student leaders committed to serving the St. Edward's community. Get to know your representatives.
The Executive Branch is comprised of three bodies; Student Body President, Cabinet, & Executive Aides.
The Student Body President acts as the liaison and representative between the University and our student body.
The Cabinet organizes Internal and External by keeping SGA connected to the border community.
Our Executive Aides are Chief Financial Officer, BIG Event Director, and Hilltoppers for Hilltoppers Director. These three aides report directly to the President on progress work done throughout the year.
Student Government Association wants students to have a voice in the events and student organizations on campus. We invite you to get involved with the Student Government Association. Your expertise ensures that each experience provides an opportunity for networking, leadership development, strong friendships, and lasting memories.

Judicial Branch
The Student Court of Appeals considers citation appeals from currently enrolled students related to breaches of parking and transportation regulations. The university's traffic and parking regulations provide a method of safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus.
Additionally, the court considers sanctions and appeals regarding SGA elections. The court has the jurisdiction to decide its own court rulings in that St. Edward’s University and its properties are privately owned, and all actions taken upon said property are under the jurisdiction of St. Edward’s University and its enforcers.
For questions or concerns regarding the appeal process, see our appeal procedures or contact university parking.
Legislative Branch
Senate proudly represents the student body of St. Edward's University, by working to advocate for student needs by developing legislation.
